3. In order to create an account, click Not Registered on the left hand side. Then, fill in the required information, and click Create Account.
4. An activation email will be sent to you. The Barracuda Spam & Virus Firewall will "catch" this email.
To get to Barracuda messages:
a. Find an email from Barracuda and go to View Your Entire Quarantine Inbox Or Manage Your Preferences at the bottom of the email.
Username and password are your MyLogin information.
5. Once in Barracuda, find the correct email. Under Actions, click Whitelist. This will allow messages from clear.msu.edu to be delivered without being caught by the filter.
(Remember to check the junk email folder if it seems the email won't appear.)
6. To activate your Clear account, click or copy-paste the link in your activation email.
7. After activation, you will be able to explore all of the Rich Internet Applications available.
Below the heading Explore all Rich Internet Applications, click Audio Dropbox.
On the left hand side, there are excellent one-page guides to support teachers and students.
To stay organized, folders can be created for different classes or dropboxes.
8. Click Create a New Dropbox to create a dropbox.
9. It will always be Untitled to begin with. Click on the pencil to edit the dropbox.
Keep in mind the time limit is in seconds.
After editing your dropbox, click Save.
10. To get the embed code, click on HTML and copy the entire code.
11. In a new tab, go to www.cmcss.net. Under Faculty/Staff, click Teacher Website Admin.
Username and password are MyLogin Information.
12. Click on Classroom News.
13. Under Create a News Item, choose the category for the item.
Then, in the text area, create the prompt/question that the students should respond to.
Next, below the prompt/question, paste the Embed Code that was copied from the dropbox.
Finally, click Create.
14. To view the dropbox on the Teacher Webpage, go to www.cmcss.net. Find your school under Our Schools.
Next, on the left hand side, click Faculty and Staff Directory.
Then, click on Website by your name.
15. Click Ok to configure the microphone.
16. Follow the instructions to set up the microphone. Then, click Continue.
17. After Audio Dropbox has connected, click Begin.
18. Students will enter their name.
To Consider:
When students submit their recordings, they are organized by time stamp. Requiring students to enter their name with the class period first may assist in organizing the final products.
19. When students are ready, recording can begin. They can stop, playback their recording, cancel, or save their work.
20. Students will click Save, the green checkmark, to submit their recording to their instructor. They will receive a message that their recording has been submitted.
21. In order to view student submissions, click View Recordings, the eye to the left of the pencil.
22. For each student, choose Click here to play. Then, click play to listen to their recording.
